The name of this blog - www.sagercyber.org - is a pun, of course. Our family pronounces our name with a hard “g” sound, as in “say grrr”. But people sometimes mispronounce it with a soft “g”, as in “say jer”.
My Dad could never resist a bit of wordplay, and was known to deliberately mispronounce our last name to quip, “We’re the Sager family – sager than most, not as sage as some”.
In his honor I also violated one of my own rules in the name of this blog - using the word "cyber" as its own noun, without any object (like "cyber defense"). It was certainly true in the early days of all this - anyone who said something like "I work in cyber" likely had no idea what was going on. I am less picky than I used to be - the buzzword industry eventually wears you down.
